Hot Air Ballooning Over the Galena Territory

At the resort destination preferred by Illinois resort guests, you have to take advantage of the opportunity to fly high in the sky with an incredible balloon ride, compliments of Galena on the Fly and departing from Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa!

The adventure begins when one of the largest hot air balloons in the country takes you on a scenic balloon flight over Galena, Illinois’ historic and breathtaking countryside. It’s the perfect chance to for our Illinois resort guests to get married in an unforgettable wedding ceremony in the sky – or hold a corporate team building session 2000 feet above the ground. The sky is truly the limit!

Sunrise and sunset flights are available year-round for our Illinois resort guests. The meeting times for these rides varies as the sunrise and sunset times change with the seasons. Balloons, balloon trackers and thrill-seekers meet at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa, where our Illinois resort guests are free to choose from several different Resort locations from which to launch the balloon. All launching sites provide for the most scenic flights possible.

The flight itself lasts about one hour, and the whole event lasts about 3 to 4 hours. After take-off from our Illinois resort, the first few minutes of the flight are spent at tree top level, allowing you to get a feel for the flight. From there, Illinois resort guests may ascend up to 3,000 or 4,000 feet above the ground. At this altitude, it is possible to see Iowa and Wisconsin, as well as Illinois! You may also see some of the abundant wildlife that calls Jo Daviess County home, like the whitetail deer.

Upon landing you will be whisked away in a new passenger van and returned to the Resort, where a champagne celebration and the presentation of first flight certificates will take place. You'll then have the opportunity to purchase items that commemorate your flight.
