Eagle Ridge Hosts Free “Music on the Greens” Concert Series
Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa is thrilled to present the 2007 Music on the Green Concert Series, which kicks off Saturday, May 26 with Shirley King, daughter of blues legend B.B. King. The free concerts begin at 6:00 p.m. on the recreation field adjacent to our Galena hotel’s Inn and will be held most Saturdays from Memorial Day through Labor Day, rain or shine.
On Saturday, May 26, Shirley King gets our Galena hotel party started with high-energy, funky Chicago blues. A regular at major blues clubs and festivals worldwide, she has toured the United States, Canada, Italy, France and Iceland, performing with greats from B.B. King himself to Tyrone Davis and Koko Taylor.
The next concert in our Galena hotel’s series takes place on Saturday, June 9, when the Brews Brothers Band provides a sweet mix of soul and blues, pairing classic tunes of the ‘60s and ‘70s with upbeat original music. As individuals, the brothers have been playing throughout the Midwest since the ‘80s, but this concert is their first appearance on the stage together…ever!
The Mack’s Creek Band heats things up on June 23 at our Galena hotel. This modern country/Southern rock band has been entertaining crowds in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Iowa with their music for the past 25 years. The band’s wide fan base proclaims: A party just ain’t a party without Mack’s Creek!
At the usual time on Saturday, July 21, Bob Dorr & The Blue Band is scheduled to perform. This classic band has been bringing rockabilly, reggae and blues to the Midwest for more than 20 years. With two dozen albums under their collective belts, the Iowa band is still pickin’ and partying. The Blue Band has opened shows for B. B. King, Buddy Guy and Koko Taylor, among others.
The band 1969 injects new life into the songs popularized by Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Joe Cocker, Cream and other stars of the psychedelic era on Saturday, August 4 as part of the series. Band members, all Chicago natives, have performed with rockers Tantrum and Armadilla, soul divas Shawn Christopher and Jan James, and bluesmen Joe Kelly and Blues DeVille.
Galena hotel guests will groove to The Matt Stedman Band, an exceptional group of multi-talented musicians that feature rock 'n' roll, blues, Celtic, bluegrass, jazz and funk rhythms, on August 18. Matt Stedman’s fiery electric violin, harmonica and vocals lead the band, as he electrifies the audience with his passion, intensity and energy. The group performs standards and unique and captivating originals.
Finally, on Saturday, September 1, the Sundogs, who admittedly play just for the fun of it, will…play just for the fun of it at our Galena hotel. This four-piece band appeals to all generations with covers of popular rock tunes from the 1960s onward, from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Eagles and Jimi Hendrix, to U2 and Nirvana.
