The second of four free outdoor concerts at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa continues in July with Manny B and the Rhythm Nights on Saturday, July 26.  The resort’s Third Annual 2008 Music on the Green Concert Series offers music from a wide variety of recording artists throughout the summer as part of their seasonal entertainment.

“We kicked the season off with Bob Dorr and the Blue Band on Memorial Day Weekend and had an absolutely excellent turnout, both in participation and weather,” said Ikhlas Ahmed, General Manager and Eagle Ridge.  “Our next three concerts are going to be equally as exciting with some of the finest entertainment Eagle Ridge has had the pleasure to host.”

The free concerts begin at approximately 6 p.m. on the recreation field adjacent to the Inn.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase (no coolers please) and concert goers are encourage to bring their lawns chairs or blankets and the whole family.

The 2008 Music on the Green concert schedule follows:

  • Saturday, July 26 - Manny B & the Rhythm Nights.  These four musicians who bill themselves as “Four Old Men Who Can Still Rock,” comprise one of the Midwest’s premier show bands.  Their stellar showmanship and musical abilities bring audiences to standing ovations.  Manny B. has formulated a blend of comedy, audience participation, soulful rock and rhythm & blues into a unique entertainment package.  It’s little wonder Six Flags Great America brings them back to their stage repeatedly.
  • Saturday, Aug. 16 – Duke Tumatoe & the Power Trio.  This group not only promises “a good time, a little mischief and a lot of good music,” but they also warn that anything can happen at one of their shows!  Many remember Duke from his start with REO Speedwagon in the 1960s, leaving the group with his rocking, bluesy rootsy-ness to go solo.  Growing up on the south side of Chicago, this blues man has played with many of the greats over his career:  Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and Bo Diddley to name a few.
  • Saturday, Aug. 30 – The Mighty Short Bus.  This five-piece band hit the ground running in 2003 and has been in a constant state of motion ever since. Over five-hundred shows since day one, (over 140 in 2007 alone), and a solid 2008 tour schedule ahead, the MSB has solidified a reputation as one of the hardest working and dedicated bands around. The Mighty Short Bus takes its creative cues from influences such as the Black Crowes, Tom Petty, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Freddy Jones Band, Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughn and the Rolling Stones to produce a sound that is familiar to the ear, original in design, and unique in its execution. As a result, the Mighty Short Bus is taking every opportunity to enjoy the ride.
